The Lori Clements 1000 - Hope from Iraq

My name is LTC Kevin Zurmuehlen and I am currently serving with the U.S. Army in Baghdad, Iraq. My daughter's friend, Lori, was recently diagnosed with leukemia and is receiving her initial treatment at St. Jude. Lori and her family are very special to my family, our church and our Huntsville, AL community. I am continually amazed at their God-focused, faithful approach to this situation and I am blessed by and thankful for the witness they display for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Through Lori and her family, we have heard about the incredible service St. Jude provides to families going through the hardest of circumstances. Not only are they caring for Lori's medical needs, but they are meeting the care needs of her family as well. In honor of Lori, I am dedicating my running miles in Iraq to St. Jude in an effort to raise much needed funds for the excellent work this incredible organization provides to the families they serve. When I crossed the finish line at the Walt Disney World Goofy Challenge (half and full marathons over the same weekend) on Jan 13, 2008, I had run exactly 1000 miles since the beginning of my training program on 15 Jun 07.
I encourage you to take steps to help in the fight against childhood catastrophic diseases. We can do this together!

The 1000 miles are complete!!!

I finished the 1000 miles on 13 Jan 08 at the finish line of the Walt Disney Marathon - what a moment! Most importantly, we reached the $3000 goal just before the race!
Thanks to all who contributed to make this possible - I know that the children receiving treatment at this wonderful facility appreciate your caring concern and willingness to support.
